After
two
magical
seasons
which
saw
the
Destiny
overcome
tough
obstacle
after tough
obstacle
enroute
to
winning
two
straight
Championships
(the only team
to have won more than one!), 2009 unfortunately did not live up to the
probably ridiculous expectations that those amazing runs likely
created as the Destiny failed to make the Playoffs for only the second
time in five seasons. The loss of two-time
All Star, IM
Davorin
Kuljasevic, was almost certainly a part of this as while his
replacements performed quite capably, there are precious few players in
the
League who have scored around eighty percent over a large sample of
games as he did.
While
2009
was
a
disappointing
season,
the
Destiny
still
had
many
things
to
build
on.
Rookie
IM
Daniel
Ludwig
and veteran FM
Keaton
Kiewra both had strong seasons, both playing a large number of
games. Given the number of strong players at UTD, Dallas
certainly has plenty of options of how to build their 2010 roster, and
given their players' great determination, it seems unlikely that it
will take the Destiny long to make their return to prominence.
