Predictions
--------------------------------------------
by FM Ron Young
--------------------------------------------
Baltimore Kingfishers (2.0-0.0) vs Carolina Cobras (0.0-2.0)
Starts at 7:15 PM ET
Time Control - Game 90 with 30 second increment
Carolina brings a rating edge to this match, but they
will need better performance from their top two boards
to get off the schneid. Perhaps Hoekstra, seeing how
rock-ribbed conservatve play has failed, will adopt a
more liberal approach. Time will tell but if you can't
wait that long, I am calling this match a tie.
Tennessee Tempo (0.5-1.5) vs Miami Sharks
(0.0-2.0)
Starts at 8:00 PM ET
Time Control - Game 75 with 30 second increment
Western Division champ Miami is off to a disappointing
start but manager Martinez has decided he can
contribute more by sitting out and making sure his
players are well-supplied with coffee and cookies. I
think this will pay off in the form of a 2.5-1.5 Miami
victory.
Philadelphia Masterminds (0.0-2.0) vs San Francisco Mechanics (2.0-0.0)
Starts at 8:30 PM ET Time Control -
Game 60 with 30 second increment
This match will be decided by the answers to a couple
of questions. San Francisco supporters must wonder if
Pruess will be able to keep his mind on the second
player rather than the Fourth Estate. Philadelphia
fans, meanwhile, will be anxious to see if Shahade can
trade the pieces down as quickly as he did last week
against Kelleher. I'm picking San Francisco, 2.5-1.5.
Seattle Sluggers (2.0-0.0) vs Dallas Destiny (0.5-1.5)
Starts at 9:00 PM ET Time Control - Game 60 with 30 second increment
God save Magesh’s queen
From traps and forks, I mean
(Woul’n’t that be keen?)
Who’ll be victorious?
I fear the story is
Against the four o’ yas?
Seattle, clean.
(Confirmation has been made that Ron intends to pick Seattle 2.5-1.5)
After Week 2 the scores were as follows:
Ron: 3
Arun: 3
Both of our prognosticators managed to correctly predict one match out
of five! Let's see if they can go for two this week. Ron is already off
to a good start with his Boston selection.
Below are Ron's picks and NM Arun
Sharma's picks for this week (Arun picks the Monday night matches). We
will be keeping track from this point on to see who has a better knack
for picking winners:
