Week 8 Predictions
--------------------------------------------
by FM Ron Young
--------------------------------------------
If New York hopes to return to the finals, they have
to show at some point that they can beat Boston.
Luckily, it need not be tonight. I do think they’ll
tie the match though, and keep the wildcard excitement
at fever pitch for at least another week.
Both teams kind of need this one or at least kind of
want it. I kind of think it’ll be a tie, though.
Panchanathan has been looking for his groove all
season, but Blehm has been around the turntable a few
times and I don't think he'll be played too easily.
Tempo Captain Andrews apparently wants to shake up his
team while shocking their opponents by starting a
fourteen-year-old. Unfortunately, the
fourteen-year-old faces a fifteen-year-old on board 4,
so the shock to the Friscans will be minimal but the
shaking by the Tennesseans will rage out of control. I
pick the Mechanics to win by two.
When these teams met just two weeks ago it was a
three-point win for Seattle. That ought to give Miami
a revenge incentive but in the meantime, Becerra has
already played Serper again and drawn (scoring the
only pointage under the event’s weird scoring system).
That takes the edge off the revenge motive while the
memory of the earlier debacle remains intact. So I
think Seattle will win again but only by a point this time.
Aruns picks were:
New York over Boston 2.5-1.5
Dallas over Baltimore 2.5-1.5
San Fr over Tennessee 3-1
Miami over Seattle 2.5-1.5
