Week 9 Predictions
--------------------------------------------
by FM Ron Young
--------------------------------------------
This is a match with postseason implications, with
Carolina just barely in the race for the final playoff
spot. It may come down to who needs it less, and that
is clearly Boston. I think the Blitz will hang in and
intercept Carolina’s desperate attempts. Boston,
2.5-1.5
This is a match with postseason implications, as the
teams are tied for 2nd but the loser could easily miss
the playoffs entirely. Charbonneau, second in the
current MVP standings, surprisingly is sitting this
one out. I therefore pick Baltimore to win by a point.
This is a match with postseason implications, as both
teams are fighting for wildcard spots. With
Panchanathan seeming to have finally found his form
the match looks about even. Again, though, the side
with more teams to beat out may be more likely to do
something crazy. Therefore I’ll pick Dallas to win by
the minimum margin.
This is a match with postseason implications, as Miami
is tied with Dallas for the final qualifying spot in
the West. Miami starts two players who have hardly
played this season in Espino and Torres. I suppose
they are trying to improve their postseason
flexibility, but I doubt that Tennessee sees
increasing Miami’s eligible roster as their purpose on
the planet. I see a fired-up Tennessee team nicking
the Sharks for a half point and showing once again why
the horse should go before the cart.
