Pokerstars.com,
the largest poker site on the Internet, is continuing their support of
the US Chess League. The following features will be in place for the
2007 Season:
1. Each team will be paid per match, including the playoffs. Only the
expansion teams, whom have yet to be announced, won't be paid.
2. The Game of the Week Award will now carry a $100 prize. The process
of choosing Game of the Week will become more official, with three
judges ranking the top five games, the scores then being added up, and
the winner being announced every Friday. There will again be an extra
bonus for Game of the Year
3. The Members of the All Star team will get bonuses, with $200 per
player for the 1st All Star Team, and $100 per player for the 2nd All
Star Team. The League MVP will also receive an extra $300 on top of the
All Star prizes, with the mandate that they must play in the final
match of the Regular Season to receive this bonus.
With financial rewards on top of the honor of
winning these prizes, the competition should be as fierce as ever. The
season will begin in late August with two new teams and ten more weeks
of action packed chess, followed by an exciting three weeks of
playoffs. Thanks to Pokerstars.com for their continued support Click
