(Ron correctly predicted the winner of all 3 matches, not including the match that was drawn due to technical problems. Will his incredible streak continue this week?)

Boston Blitz

I’m tempted to make this my “upset of the week” but
that might establish a dangerous precedent. So I’ll
hedge and make Boston the Even-Six money favorite but
forecast a 2-2 score. Key will be how Rohonyan
recovers from her Rosenberg debacle, which really was
kind of tricky, after all.

New York Knights

Philadelphia Masterminds
IM Irina Krush - 2445

FM Norman Rogers - 2307
IM Jay Bonin - 2379

NM Carl Boor - 2329
NM Gregory Braylovsky - 2376

IM Richard Costigan - 2295
John Fernandez - 2116

NM Daniel Pomerleano - 2193

But you know, I did go three-for-three last week
(discounting the aborted match), so I don’t want to
carry modesty too far. I pick New York here in my
“lock of the week”, as Philly’s workhorses are being
worked to the bone. New York, 3-1.

San Francisco Mechanics

Miami Sharks
IM John Donaldson - 2442

GM Julio Becerra - 2622
FM Dmitry Zilberstein - 2435

FM Marcel Martinez - 2469

Part of being a winning handicapper is to sense early
when someone is hot, and make your killing then. You
then have the luxury of making token bets, just for
the sake of the action, when you don’t have such a
strong feeling. Right now, I feel like spring break in
Cancun, so I’m going to make the ‘Nics my second lock
this week, as an advance against future weeks. San
Francisco, 2.5-1.5

Dallas Destiny

Carolina Cobras
IM Dmitry Shneider - 2488

GM Marcin Kaminski - 2473
IM Amon Simutowe - 2471

FM Lev Milman - 2474
IM Peter Vavrak - 2476

I’d make Carolina just the tiniest favorite here but
am predicting a 2-2 match. The only big rating
disparity is on Board Four but the smart kid from the
small town figures to improve rapidly in the UTD
environment.
