Philadelphia Inventors![]() |
The Inventors finally put the demons to rest, as they qualified for the postseason for the first time in their three year history. Picked in last place in all of the public preseason predictions, they shocked everyone by finishing in 2nd place, behind the powerful play of GM Sergey Kudrin, who finished at an undefeated +2. The rest of the team also did a great job of coming through when they were most needed. Every regular player from the Inventors main five player rotation came up with huge wins to swing matches in Philadelphia's favor. Philadelphia received draw odds in the postseason against New York, but the Knights were playing too well and eliminated Philadelphia from the picture. Although Philadelphia's fantastic season was something for Inventor fans to be happy about, there was tragic news as well, as team member and Philadelphia chess legend, FM Boris Bacyznskyj, passed away at the age of 62. |
