Martinez
vs Zilberstein finishes 3rd Marcel Martinez and the Miami Sharks sent shockwaves through the USCL, as his key victory over IM Dmitry Zilberstein helped propel the Sharks to the SemiFinals. One of the highlights of this victory was the tremendous opening preparation by the Sharks, allowing Martinez to use an opening novelty that Zilberstein simply had no answer for. Martinez picks up the $300 3rd place prize for his efforts. While many top players felt that this game was the favorite to win Game of the Year, it seems that a few judges docked it some points because the key moments of the game were home preparation and also because the game was rather one sided. This leaves just two games in contention for the $1000 prize: GM Julio Becerra (MIA) vs IM Drasko Boskovic (DAL) 0-1 SM Jorge Sammour-Hasbun (BOS) vs IM Davorin Kuljasevic (DAL) 1-0 It's Dallas vs Boston again, will Dallas pick up another major USCL accolade or will Boston get some compensation for their USCL Final defeat? The winner will be revealed shortly! Click here to read the full article. |
