There are a few reasons why the two teams involved in a match may have an avg rating of above 2400. They are as follows:

1. When a team uses a player rated above 2580, that player only counts as 2580 towards the team avg rating. For instance if there is a player rated 2650, they will only count as 2580 towards the legal average rating. However when calculating the actual average rating, the team rating will of course be higher. This figure will revert back to 2590 in 2008 and we expect it to remain there.

2. Any female player used in the USCL gives a bonus of 10 average rating points to the team using that female. So a team with four male players must have an avg rating of 2400 or less, whereas a team of 3 males and 1 female may have an avg rating of 2410 or less.
